Mr. Billy Colston, III is in his fourth term as a Trustee, and is currently serving as our Board President. He was raised in Riviera and is a graduate of Kaufer High School. Mr. Colston graduated from Texas A&M University, College Station, receiving a degree in Business and Management. He is currently the President and General Manager of the Riviera Telephone Company, Inc. Mr. Colston and his wife, Michelle, have three children, Austin, Jake, and Piper.

Mr. Pedro "Pete" Guevara is in his second term as a Trustee. He was raised in Riviera and is a graduate of Kaufer High School. He attended Texas A&I University, Kingsville and Naval Aviation Electronics School, becoming an aviation electronics technician. Mr. Guevara served four years in the U.S. Navy and did three Persian Gulf Tours during Operation Southern Watch. Currently, he works for the Riviera Telephone Co. Mr. Guevara and his wife, Victoria, have four children; Clarissa, Peter, Zachary, and Hadley.

Ms. Becky Gutierrez is in her 14th year as a Trustee. A life-long resident of Riviera, she is a graduate of Riviera ISD and attended Texas A & I University -Kingsville. Ms. Gutierrez is employed with Neessen Automotive in Kingsville. She has three children: Heston, Katy, Dean, and five grandchildren; Charlotte, Major, Trent, Mason, and Lincoln.

Mr. Rodney Malin was elected to our School Board in 2018. He was born and raised in Riviera. A graduate of Kaufer High School, he graduated from Texas A & I University with a B.S. in Agriculture.

Mr. Malin has been employed with Celanese for over 32 years. His position is as a Senior Laboratory Technician. Rodney is also co-owner of Malin Ranch, LLC along with his two sisters, and currently serves as the Ranch Manager.

Mrs. Teresa May was elected to our School Board in November 2012. She was born and raised in McAllen, graduated from Sharyland ISD, and attended Texas A & I University in Kingsville. 

Mrs. May is a homemaker, and a school, community, and church volunteer. She is an active member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, and the Woman's Club of Kingsville. Teresa is married to Paul C. May who works at Celanese in Bishop. Mrs. May and her husband have three children: Hannah, Meagan, and Paul "PC" Craig May, Jr.

Mrs. Crystal Ramirez-Garcia is a proud native of Brooks County, Texas. Born and raised in Encino, she attended school in Falfurrias and graduated from Falfurrias High School before earning a bachelor’s degree in International Business from the University of Texas–Pan American in 2008.

In 2020, Crystal and her family moved to Riviera, Texas. She serves as Executive Director of Los Mestenos Career Academy, where she leads the organization’s mission to provide training, education, and resources that open doors to meaningful career opportunities. She also serves as Program Coordinator for the BHOLD (Behavioral Health Outreach & Leadership Development) Coalition, ensuring the coalition remains a driving force in building a healthier, more resilient Brooks County.

Beyond her professional roles, Crystal and her husband, Rocky Garcia, are entrepreneurs and co-owners of 16 Energy Services LLC. Together, they are proud parents to Duke and Ashlyn, who both attend De La Paz Middle School.

Michael Valenzuela started his first term as a trustee in November 2022. His hometown is Riviera, Texas and he graduated from Riviera High School in 1994. He attended Texas A&M University, College Station, and graduated with a B.S. in Food Science and Technology in 1998. He is the owner of Gulf Coast Insulation. Mr. Valenzuela and his wife Jennifer have two daughters: Emma and Maddie.
