Last Saturday, 9/7, the Seahawk XC teams traveled to West Guth to participate in the Odem Owl Cross Country Invitational. Everyone did an outstanding job on a very tough, very hilly course.
Lauren Sandoval, Katelina Rendon, and Adelina Bell swept the top 3 spots in the Varsity Girls division placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, with Morgan Butler placing 6th and Mica Gutierrez placing 10th. The girls team placed 1st as a team with a combined score of 22. Not to be outdone, the JV girls also placed first as a team. Jordyn Salazar placed 1st, Miranda Garcia 3rd, Maisyn Bippert 6th, Izzy Couch 7th and Casandra Arroyo 8th. These two teams did a fantastic job!
Roan Bell placed 10th in the Varsity Boys division, with Robbie Ochoa 11th, Brenden Solomon 12th, Romeo Gutierrez 16th and Nathan LaRosa 17th.
8th grade boys did well, too. Jake White placed 2nd, William Clements 4th, Joshua Ochoa 5th, Jerrod Gallardo 7th, Logan Colley 12th and Mason Johnson 15th.
In the 7th grade boy's division, Jamie Gonzales placed 2nd, Darrien Huff 20th and Jason Olivarez 23rd.
Our lone 8th grade girl, Molly Johnson, placed 6th overall.
In the 7th grade girl's division, Aveline Perez placed 1st, Emilie Russek 7th, Tayla Arroyo 15th and Zenissa Cantu 20th.
We are beyond proud of how everyone showed up to compete! Our next meet is on Saturday, 9/14, in Premont.

Your homecoming court voting begins this Thursday.

The students and staff enjoyed choosing fresh options from the new salad bar at the Riviera café! All the fresh fruits and vegetables were purchased using funds from the Local Food for Schools Grant and from a Texas-based produce company.

The recent tragedy at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia reminds us all of the importance of safety and security in schools. We want to assure our families that Riviera ISD has an updated emergency operations plan that has been created and reviewed in collaboration with the Texas Schools Safety Center. The members of our staff have been trained on the specifics of this plan, and we conduct periodic drills to ensure that everyone knows their role during a crisis. Our district also has specific protocols for entry to our schools, and we appreciate the understanding of our parents as we enforce these protocols for the safety of our children. The safety of our students remains our highest priority.
