For the 2024 – 2025 school year, Riviera ISD is approved to operate the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) which allows the Riviera ISD food service department to provide breakfast and lunch meals for all Riviera ISD students, at no cost to the student. A student’s household must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify for free or reduced-price meals.
Each enrolled RISD student is permitted access to one breakfast and one lunch, per day, at no charge.

Over the summer, a 100 Mile Challenge was offered by Coach Rendón to our Riviera ISD kids. This was to be completed over 5 weeks, running 4 days a week up to 5 miles per day. 13 athletes stepped up to the challenge! Together they ran at various locations such as DKP, Oso Bay Wildlife Preserve, Bishop City Park, TAMUK, CC Bayfront, and our RISD campus.
Romeo Gutierrez and Edwin Lopez completed the challenge!! The rest of the participants were able to complete anywhere from 30-80 miles, respectively. “Running in our South Texas heat is no easy feat, these runners are to be commended.”, said Coach Rendón.
Each runner was rewarded with a certificate for their efforts. Romeo and Edwin, along with their certificate of completion, earned a medal and a T-shirt.
