REMEMBER THE ALAMO Kaufer ECHS Director, Elias Arredondo, completed the Teach the Alamo - Archeology Edition educator workshop held in San Antonio, today. The in-depth experience, sponsored by the Alamo's K-12 education group, provided holistic knowledge of archeological processes that help to better understand the sacred grounds and its unique history. Mr. Arredondo took part in lecture, study, observation, and a mock excavation. Mr. Arredondo is most excited for his opportunity to share his knowledge with the students of Riviera ISD.

Kaufer Early College High School has scheduled STAAR EOC testing to take place at the DeLaPaz Middle School Campus on the following dates: Tuesday, June 20, 2023 – English 1 Wednesday, June 21, 2023 – English 2; Algebra 1 Thursday, June 22, 2023 – US History; Biology. Invited students will arrive to campus for testing by 8:00am and will remain on campus for the duration of testing. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

We kicked off the first day of Summer Nutrition Camp with Texas AgriLife! The campers learned about food safety and how to measure ingredients and chop fruits and vegetables. They ended the day making and eating -Fruit with Yogurt-Orange Dip -Fresh Hummus and Snap Peas -Guacamole -Cucumber-Yogurt Veggie Dip

Riviera Independent School District is PROUD to present, Jake Colston! Seahawk, Jake Colston, has been selected to participate in the Coastal Bend Coaches Association All-Star game. The contest will occur on Sunday, June 11th, 2023 at 5 PM in Corpus Christ at Cabanis Field.

Last week our Amazing Kaufer ECHS students were taught about financial literacy from TAMUK and earned their certificate for participation. They also earned their first paychecks from their Summer Work Program participation. This week our students will be completing their NCCER industry certifications. These kids are doing amazing work!

Seahawk Strength and Conditioning Summer workouts start up Tuesday June 6th. All Junior High and High School Seahawks are welcome

Riviera ISD and the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension have teamed up to host a Summer Nutrition Camp for Kids in 1st grade - 12th grade.

We want to take the time to congratulate our very own Skyler Ramos, who has been selected to participate in the Texas Select High School showcase in San Antonio Tx. Skyler will have the opportunity to showcase her talent along some of the best softball players in south Texas and they will be able to do this in front of multiple college coaches. The event will take place at the University of St Mary’s in San Antonio Tx on June 4th.

BITTERSWEET RETIREMENT Dear Riviera ISD Superintendent, Mrs. Patricia Thornton, School Board Members, School Administrators, Faculty, Staff, and community, I would like to take this time to thank everyone for giving me the opportunity to work at Riviera ISD for the last 31 years. During this time, I have so many fond memories with faculty, co-workers, and especially with students. I will cherish these memories forever. I would also like to thank the food service directors I have been privileged to work with and learn from. These strong, dedicated professionals, Ms. Jennifer Chapman, Ms. Lupita Guerra, and Ms. Millie Clements, were instrumental in helping me grow professionally. After 31 years I am ready for the next chapter of my life, and I will be retiring at the end of this school year. As a new grandmother, I plan to spend plenty of time in Florida with my son Arnie, his wife Jillian, and my new grandson, Jaxon Jesse. I want to also give a huge heartfelt “thank you” to all the administrators, staff, co-workers, and students that helped me during one of the most challenging times of my life. Losing Jesse Sanchez was devastating for me, but with the support and love of my family and the entire school community, I was able to continue. Once again, thank you for allowing me to be a part of the Seahawk Family. My blood will run green forever. Respectfully, Ellie Jimenez
